The Youth Services Division is responsible for providing quality developmental and recreational programming for the youth of Whittier. Some of the programs sponsored by the City's Youth Services Division include: Whittier Youth Network (WYN Club), Summer Day Camps, VolunTEEN Program and Students Run Whittier. The Youth Services Division also works with

 the SKILLS Organization to provide Club Orchard Dale and Club Scottie, which are after school programs for Kinder-5th graders at Orchard Dale and Scott Avenue Elementary Schools.

Summer Day Camp 2020

For Children ages 5 – 12

The City of Whittier Day Camp program provides Whittier’s youth with a positive day camp experience.  Children can learn, explore and become a part of a stimulating positive, esteem-building environment.  A variety of arts and crafts, sports, games, field trips and other activities will keep them involved and having fun.


  • ON-LINE ONLY Registration Date: Monday, April 13, 2020- POSTPONED

  • WALK-UP Registration Date: Thursday, April 16, 2020, at 8 a.m.-POSTPONED

  • at Whittier Community Center ONLY – 7630 Washington Avenue – First Come, First Serve.

  • Registration Fee:  $100 per week, per child and a one-time $10 t-shirt fee.
  • Program Hours: Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Program Dates: June 8 – August 7

The WYN Club is a drop-in recreation program for young people 2nd - 5th grade throughout the school year, and ages 7-12 during the summer program. Members participate in a variety of recreational activities, special interest classes, personal development activities and field trips. Each program is staffed with trained recreation leaders and volunteers who have planned each day’s activities to keep your children active, involved and having plenty of fun! Monthly activity calendars are available at the sites.

Students Run Whittier program trains students grades 4-8 to participate in local 5K runs in the City of Whittier. Trainings teach participants the fundamentals of running, building self-esteem, awareness of lifelong physical fitness and creating an atmosphere of belonging while training with their peers.

Practices take place on Saturdays, 7-8 a.m., September through December.

Practices are held at Palm Park.
